Creative pursuits were a secret talent for Gabrielle Chalmers until she decided to study a Diploma of Visual Merchandising.
I now have a firm belief that anyone can be creative if you choose to think you can. That in itself is creative.
“Since completing the course I have a lot more confidence, pride and enthusiasm for living my own creative existence.
“I completed a placement with the shop Kinobi, which provided an amazing and intimate insight into how visual merchandising is applicable to the technical age and online shopping. It really was an invaluable experience.
“Handing in my final folio was exhausting but extremely rewarding. It was a culmination of everything we’d learnt in 18 months including styling, photography, displays, colour theory, finishing techniques, sketching, technical drawing and graphic design.
“I am so grateful for the passion and interest our teachers have shown us. We have been encouraged to push ourselves, experiment and uncover our own aesthetic.
“I love what I do because there is so much possibility.”
