After falling in love with Melbourne, Sharina Bandaranayake decided to study chemical engineering at RMIT. She hopes her degree takes her to her dream job at a chocolate manufacturer.
Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) (Honours)
If you love a good challenge and if you love physics, chemical engineering has your name all over it.
The first time I visited Melbourne in 2009, I fell in love with the place and instantly knew that this was where I wanted to study. I loved the idea that RMIT is in the heart of the City.
During high school I had a passion for maths, physics and chemistry. The chemical engineering program at RMIT really caught my attention.
During my studies I’ve gained confidence, patience, and how to be more organised. My degree encourages teamwork which will help me be prepared for the workforce.
My favourite subject has been Metallurgical Engineering. I loved learning the thought process and reactions that go into the three different areas of mining, Pyrometallurgy, Hydrometallurgy and Electrometallurgy.
My dream job would be to work in a chocolate factory.
