Our key discipline areas provide programs with flexible pathways to global careers or postgraduate research, and encompass:

RMIT engineering is ranked 125th in the world and 8th in Australia (Source, QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019). The rankings for specific discipline areas include:

  • Top 100 for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (equal 3rd in Australia)
  • Top 100 for Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (equal 7th in Australia)
  • Top 150 for Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering (equal 2nd in Australia)
  • Top 200 for Chemical Engineering (equal 8th in Australia).

In the 2018 Excellence in Research in Australia (ERA) audit, our School was amongst the top group of Australian universities recognised for world-class engineering research. The rankings (out of 5) for specific fields of research include:
